On January 26, 1990, 19 women inspired by the vision mission of YWCA and gathered in an old schoolhouse of the Vedgram Bangladesh Baptist Church Association (now known as the German Mission) to establish the YWCA. A five-member committee was formed. The purpose and goal of establishing YWCA in Gopalgonj was to achieve excellence in spiritual, intellectual, physical and mental welfare of youth and women. So that the marginalized women in the society can play a role in overall development. Taking this vow forward, YWCA started its journey with 19 members. In the first instance the membership admission fee was Tk.5.00, the monthly membership fee was Tk.2. Committee members used to meet once every month. Every two months the members met for prayer meetings, religious matters, health discussions.

On 17 November 1991 Ms. Asrukana Das, National General Secretary and Ms. Sneha Mrong, Health Coordinator came to discussed the official procedure for strengthen as YWCA Gopalgonj branch. Ms. Shipra Halder was the first General Secretary of Gopalgonj YWCA on part time basis
In 1995 Gopalgonj YWCA received affiliation from Bangladesh YWCA.
On April 18, 2004, Gopalgonj YWCA purchased its land and building from Southern Baptist Mission.

There are guest houses and common rooms to keep the activities of the organization dynamic and increase the income. The guest house has a total of 7 beds in 4 rooms. The hall has seating for 60 people. Rented to various organizations and domestic and foreign guests.
